The role of reception centres in supporting people out of exploitation
People who have survived human trafficking andslavery have been exploited for others’ personalgain. The exploitation can take many forms, including forced labour and criminality, sexualexploitation, and domestic servitude. Often, people are exploited in more than one way atonce and are trafficked within countries and across borders.
When someone is leaving a situation ofexploitation it is vital they can find immediatesafety and have the support and advice theyneed to rest and make decisions about theirfuture. One of the ways people leave thosesituations is when a police force carries out awelfare check or a raid on a location where theysuspect people are being exploited.
